  • FAQ | Custom Music Discs

What is CMD? CMD (Custom Music Discs) is a Minecraft data pack + resource pack combo that adds brand-new music discs with unique songs and features. How does CMD work? CMD uses Minecraft’s data/resource pack system. When you install both packs, you’ll get new custom music discs that work just like the vanilla ones, but with new tracks and extra details. What version(s) of Minecraft does CMD support? CMD always updates to the latest stable release. New disc won't be back-ported! Is CMD free to use? Yes! CMD is completely free. Do I need both the data pack and the resource pack? Yes — the data pack makes discs exist in-game, and the resource pack adds the music and visuals. Can I use CMD in multiplayer/servers? Absolutely. Just install the data pack on the world/server and give players the resource pack. NOTE; You can't add CMD through the server properties resource pack link due to it being to large for Minecraft! All Server players must install the CMD RP individually. How do I install CMD? Drop the data pack into your world’s datapacks folder and the resource pack into your resourcepacks folder. Then enable the resource pack in-game. Where do I put the data pack and resource pack? Data Pack → saves/[your world]/datapacks Resource Pack → resourcepacks (in the .minecraft folder) Does CMD work with other resource packs or data packs? Yes, in most cases. Just make sure CMD’s resource pack is higher in the load order than other music/sound packs. Data packs that majorly change advancements may also not work with CMD. What should I do if CMD isn’t working? Check that both packs are installed, and that the resource pack is enabled. If problems continue, join our Discord for help. Discord How do I update CMD without breaking my world? Updating won't break your worlds! Replace the old data pack + resource pack with the new ones. Your discs will remain — no progress is lost. (If no change are done to old discs) How do I get CMD discs in-game? Discs can be found, crafted, or given through special loot — just like vanilla ones. You can also find detailed info in the in-game or external CMD Wikis. External Wiki How many discs are in CMD? The number grows with each update! You can always check the full list on the CMD Wiki or the List of Discs spreadsheet. Wiki List of Discs Can I add my own songs to CMD? Not directly — but you can suggest songs to be added in future updates via Discord or the Curseforge Issues Page. Discord Curseforge Issues Page Do CMD discs have special features? Yes! Sort of... They have custom advancements, in-game Wiki pages, comparator strength info, and sometimes even secrets... Where can I see the full list of CMD discs? Check the full list on the CMD Wiki or the List of Discs spreadsheet. Wiki List of Discs Does CMD work on Realms? It should, but isn't tested. Everyone will need the resource pack for music to play. Will CMD lag my world/server? CMD is lightweight and shouldn't cause noticeable lag. Can I use CMD in modded Minecraft? Usually yes — as long as the modpack doesn’t break vanilla data/resource pack functionality. Can CMD be used with Minecraft snapshots? CMD is made for stable releases. Some snapshots may work, but we don’t officially support them. Can I suggest songs to add? Yes! We love suggestions — drop them in our Discord or Curseforge Issues Page. Discord Curseforge Issues Page How can I report a bug or issue? Use our Discord server or Curseforge Issues Page to report bugs. Discord Curseforge Issues Page Is there a CMD Discord/community? Yes! Join us on Discord to chat, suggest discs, and get help. Join Here! Can I contribute music, art, or ideas to CMD? Absolutely — CMD is community-driven, and contributions are welcome. How often does CMD update? We try to release major updates every few months, with smaller patches when needed. Updates often coincide with Minecraft Updates. What’s coming in the next version of CMD? Check our website or Discord for sneak peeks and dev updates. Where can I follow updates and announcements? On the CMD website, Discord, and on SMHerobrine's social channels!

  • About Us | Custom Music Discs

Discover the passion and creativity behind Custom Music Discs. Meet SMHerobrine, the creator of Custom Music Discs and Others on our Team. The Story Behind the Soundtrack At Custom Music Discs (CMD), our journey began with a simple idea: to bring more of the music we love into the Minecraft worlds we cherish. Our project originally sprouted from link2_thepast's "Infinite Music Discs," but with the release of Minecraft 1.21 and its innovative data-driven jukebox functionality, we saw an opportunity to evolve. CMD was born as its own distinct entity, ready to revolutionise your in-game audio. SMHerobrine Lead Developer & Owner Minecraft has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From watching early videos as a kid to experiencing my first cracked versions of Bedrock and Java Edition, and eventually owning both, this game has always held a special place. Beyond the blocks, music is a huge passion of mine, especially Eurovision and captivating game soundtracks. Custom Music Discs is truly a labor of love, allowing me to merge my enthusiasm for Minecraft with my deep appreciation for music. It's incredibly rewarding to share this passion with the small but steadily growing CMD community. Developing Custom Music Discs hasn't been without its hurdles – countless reworks and the sheer volume of work involved have been challenging. However, seeing the result of that hard work, the increasing number of downloads, the kind comments, and the exciting song requests, makes every moment worthwhile. My vision for CMD is clear: we'll continue to push through every challenge, ensuring that great music remains a vibrant part of Minecraft's latest versions. We dream of building a large, strong community around us, united by a shared love for both Minecraft and fantastic tunes. Natulilakk Contributor I joined the Custom Music Discs team towards the end of February, quickly becoming an indispensable part of our creative process. My primary contributions lie in coding and brainstorming new ideas, often bringing those concepts to life through in-game builds. Structures are a particular passion of mine, and you can see that dedication shine through in my work on the pack. My own Minecraft journey began around 2017, ignited by watching popular YouTubers like DanTDM, SSundee, and PrestonPlayz before I got Minecraft Bedrock Edition. I bring a unique blend of knowledge in crafting intricate structures and innovative ideas to the team. Outside of CMD, I enjoy playing on servers, dabbling in Skript (coding language for Minecraft servers) and simply having fun in the game.
