CMD v7.1 Pixel-Mix Summer doesn’t just bring new discs and a fresh look — it also marks a turning point for how CMD will be delivered and maintained. We’re making some important behind-the-scenes adjustments to ensure CMD continues to grow smoothly and sustainably.

📂 Discontinuation of PlanetMC File Uploads

Starting with v7.1, we will no longer be uploading CMD files to PlanetMinecraft (PMC).

Why?

  • Consistency: Maintaining updates across multiple platforms was creating confusion and slowing releases.

  • File Size Limitations: CMD has grown beyond the comfortable limits of PMC’s upload system.

  • Centralisation: From now on, CMD will be hosted and updated through CurseForge and Modrinth.

Don’t worry — PMC will still feature CMD pages for visibility and updates, but the actual files will now redirect to our main download sources.

🌱 CMD Lite Mode

With v7.1, we’re introducing CMD Lite Mode for the datapack. Lite Mode is designed for players who want a more vanilla-friendly experience without CMD’s custom structures.

  • Datapack Lite: Removes CMD-exclusive structures while still keeping all custom music discs obtainable.

  • Lite Guide: The In-Game Wiki now includes a dedicated Lite Guide, showing alternate progression paths for discs normally tied to structures.

  • Resource Pack Lite (Coming Later): A future version of the Resource Pack will include a Lite edition, compressing large audio files to reduce file size.

Lite Mode isn’t just a side project — it’s the first step in giving players more choice in how they experience CMD.

🎧 Resource Pack Global/Local (Mono/Stereo Split)

One of the biggest technical adjustments in v7.1 is the introduction of the Global/Local Resource Pack split, also known as the Stereo/Mono split.

  • Global (Stereo): This version contains stereo audio files, making the music discs play globally. (Default until now)

  • Local (Mono): This version contains audio files in mono format. Mono files are also smaller, helping reduce overall file size. These discs play locally to the jukebox!

Why the change?

  • CMD’s disc library is now over 100 tracks strong, and file sizes were starting to balloon.

  • By splitting into Mono and Stereo versions, players can choose if they want to hear the discs globally or only locally.

⚙️ Why These Changes Matter

These adjustments may seem “technical,” but they’re all about making CMD more accessible and sustainable in the long run:

  • Easier updates with fewer platform headaches.

  • Customizable options for players — whether you want the full cinematic audio or a lightweight setup.

CMD isn’t just growing in size; it’s growing smarter.

🔮 Looking Ahead

These changes also pave the way for future structures and features (👀 Scary Chambers Update). By refining how CMD is distributed and optimised now, we’re building a solid foundation for the exciting updates still to come.

In short: CMD v7.1 isn’t just another content update — it’s a technical milestone. From Lite Mode to the Mono/Stereo split, CMD is entering a new phase of development that gives you, the player, more flexibility than ever before.
